The Lord Baltimore Hotel is a rich historical hotel offering class, charm, and elegance, located in downtown Baltimore.  The Lead Bartender is a full-time nonexempt position, reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager.  The Lead Bartender acts as the lead/supervisor in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager.  Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise activities of assigned staff
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures
  • Carry out all bartending responsibilities as per the attached Bartender job description
  • Alert management of potentially serious issues
  • Assist with employee selection, training and development, and performance coaching
  • Review the following day’s menus and complete requisitions for food and supplies needed from various storerooms; maintain inventory control procedures
  • Ensure that all equipment is in proper operational condition and is cleaned on a regular basis
  • Assist in determining the minimum and maximum of supplies and equipment needed for the bar
  • Promote teamwork and quality service when onsite
  • Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction and retention

·         Interact with Vendors to order supplies and equipment and ensure best prices and quality

·         Interact with Health Department and other regulatory agencies regarding safety

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • MS Office Suite, Word, Excel
  • Ability to manage people
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to create budgets and profit/loss spreadsheets
  • Bartender Certification
  • Excellent customer service
  • Positive attitude, great temperament, and strong communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency
  • Ability to work a flexible 10-hour shift
  • T.I.P.S Certification Preferred
  • Second language (Spanish is a plus)

·         Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds

·         Moving about and around all outlets

·         Handling food, beverages, objects, products and utensils

·         Bending, stooping, kneeling

·         Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
